Adventure Elopement at Cathedral Rock
Alexandra and Tim knew that they wanted to have an intimate ceremony so that they could feel completely comfortable and in the moment while also avoiding the stress that can come along with a more traditional ceremony, so they decided to elope!. They loved the idea of getting married outside in nature and Sedona made the perfect backdrop for their adventurous elopement.
Note from the bride: “It was important to us to focus on making that day just about us and being a true celebration of our love!”
We started the day strolling through the Tlaquepaque shopping center, getting lost down little alleys that resembled the villages of Italy. One of Alex & Tim’s favorite memories of the day was when we came upon a musician playing in one of the squares, “He winked at Tim and started to play wedding music. I got to twirl and dance, and have such a fun, spontaneous moment. It really made us feel embraced by Sedona, and even though we weren’t having a traditional reception, we got to share a special first dance!”
We made our way out into the desert and hiked out to the perfect spot for their ceremony. We laid out a persian rug and just a few simple beautiful details was all that was needed to make their ceremony perfect. Alexandra wore her mother’s necklace while also rocking Tim’s U.S. Army pin on her bouquet and they carried their best friend’s handkerchief in Tim’s jacket throughout the day. “It was really special to surround ourselves with our loved ones, even if they weren’t physically there.” They read their vows to eachother surrounded by the red rocks and just a few hikers passing by (two of which we stopped to sign the marriage license! )
After the ceremony we made our way to the Cathedral Rock Trailhead where we started our hike up to the top, scaling vertical walls- all the while Tim was carrying Alex’s dress like a boss! We spent the late afternoon dancing in the sun and drinking champagne and as twilight started to set we made our way back down the trail just as the stars began to appear in the open sky. Before we packed up for the night we took one last shot under the stars, an epic end to a perfect day.
