As Florida locals, Ashley and Cristian chose to do something rad for their wedding. So they had an adventurous elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park. With over 250,000 acres, 77 mountain peaks, and over 30 trails, the rocky mountains are ideal for an adventure elopement.
Since it was their first time visiting Colorado, we planned an epic adventure-filled day to make the most of their trip. I met Ashley and Cristian at the trailhead before dawn to start our Rocky Mountain National Park adventure. Then, with headlamps lighting the way, we hiked to a high-alpine lake for their first look during the Alpenglow. Afterward, as the sun poked through the treetops, we walked back down the trail. Ashley looked stunning in her black leather jacket.
After returning to the trailhead, we found a private spot down by the lakeshore for their ceremony. Tucked away from the world, they exchanged vows as a family of ducks swam by. Even in busy places like RMNP, you can still find private locations and have the area to yourself.
After their vows, we drove to Trail Ridge Road to the summit at 12,183 ft. Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the highest national parks in the lower states. With elevations from 7,860 to 14,259ft, Rocky Mountain makes you feel like you are on top of the world. The couple shared a joint (I love Colorado elopements!) and watched the sun go down behind the peaks. We ended the day with happy hearts and tired feet, the perfect ending. Ashley and Cristian’s special day was the ideal adventurous elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park.
