Bohemian Farm Wedding at Sacred Song Farm in Mancos, CO // Margaret & Scott

Bohemian Farm Wedding at Sacred Song Farm in Mancos, CO

Margaret and Scott first met back in college during Margaret’s sophomore year, Scott was the hippie kid on campus and Margaret was a little skeptical at first. Scott was in a band with one of Margarets friends which meant that they regularly played at her house and it wasn’t long until the two became friends; going on wilderness adventures, watching kung fu, having long talks about politics and the universe, and even driving to their home town (coincidentally) to St Luis together for the holidays. One evening after another night of kung-fu watching they listened to the Beatles until they fell asleep, the following night they shared their first kiss and the rest you can say is history. They have been together for 89 full moons, or 7 years, they run their own family ranch outside of Mancos Colorado and they welcomed their first baby girl, River, into the last November 2017.

Scott had been planning on proposing for 18 months, once he started looking into engagement rings he knew that he wanted to find her something entirely unique, rare and powerful. He found a designer in WA that hand makes rings from uncut stones and he knew right away that was her style. He settled on Tanzanite, because of its amazing color, its rarity- being only found in one place, and it increases psychic awareness which happens to be Scott’s favorite qualities about Margaret; she is beautiful, rare, and has the ability to see deeply into the essence of things.

One winter while the couple was visiting family back in St Luis over the holidays, Scott asked Margarets parents for her hand early on Christmas morning wearing striped pajamas, and her parents replied with “what took you so long!” Christmas day was a bit busy with running last minute errands and spending time with their two big families, Margaret and Scott were asked to stop by her sisters house to pick up some left behind gifts, Scott knew this was the only chance they would have alone that day and filled with excitement he dropped down to one knee in the middle of the threshold between the living room and the kitchen and asked her to be his wife. They cried and hugged and kissed for 30 straight minutes and then met back up with their families to celebrate.

When planning their wedding they knew they wanted to have a huge celebration with all of the people that they love. They decided to have the ceremony on their own farm, Sacred Song Farm, outside of Mancos Colorado, it is where they live, where they work, and it is the place they wanted to make their memories of their big day, at home. They planted a tree during the ceremony and their bridal party sang them a special song – “Into the mystic” by Van Morrison. Their wedding celebration was truly one of a kind with tipi tents from Under the Sky rental, boho decor from Violet Mae Vintage and the couples favorite band, Pokey LaFarge, who came all the way from the south to play the most epic music set I have ever seen at a wedding!
