Vivian and Alex are two people who were destined to find each other. From opposite sides of the world, Vivian is from Australia, while Alex is from the States. The couple met in Tokoyo, where Alex served in the military and Vivian taught English. The first day they met was the last day they would spend apart. They wanted to elope in the mountains, just the two of them, surrounded by nature. So they chose to have a hiking elopement in Silverton. With the highest concentration of 13,000 and 14,000-foot peaks in the lower 48, the San Juan mountains are ideal for an adventurous elopement!
On the afternoon of their elopement, we hiked up a ridge and found a secluded spot for their ceremony. Vivian slipped into her dress and walked the ridgeline to her soon-to-be husband for the sweetest first look. Then, they played a game of paper rock scissors to decide who would read their vows first (so cute!) They shared their vows surrounded by mountains without another person around for miles, just as they imagined. Afterward, they celebrated with champagne before we hiked back down the mountain. When I asked Vivian to describe Alex in one word, she told me, “Alex is home, I have moved a lot in my lifetime, and I have come to revise that being “home” is not a particular place but a person. He is that person.” Home is truly where the heart is. Vivian and Alex’s hiking elopement in Silverton was the perfect escape for their adventurous getaway.
