Danielle and Patrick met doing something they both love – riding dirt bikes. Right off the bat, you know this is an adventurous couple. Although they started as friends in the beginning, little did they know their paths would cross again later on down the road in a much more significant way. They had been friends for 8 years but with Danielle and Patrick, timing really was everything.
Danielle and Patrick had planned a trip to Denver the weekend after Thanksgiving to watch the Broncos and Patriots game, Patrick favoring the Broncos and Danielle dedicated to her Patriots. On the night of November 28, 2015 they walked hand in hand down 16th street together to take in the splendid sights of downtown Denver. Snow fell from the sky like a scene right out of a movie with brilliant and vibrant shades of Christmas lights illuminating their path. Patrick asked a passerby if they would mind taking their picture and with a perfect winter wonderland serving as the backdrop, Patrick got down on one knee, and asked for Danielle’s hand in marriage, which (of course) Danielle said “Yes!
I had the pleasure of getting to know the couple back when I took their engagement photos, we bonded instantly, occasionally sharing a laugh over “Larry,” the nickname that we gave my trusty ladder that I always bring with me to my shoots to help add a few inches to my stature which quickly became our inside joke.
From the bride: “Our favorite thing is to just be adventurous together. We are thrill seekers and that is what makes our relationship interesting.”
Fast forward to the day of the wedding. The destination – Cabo San Lucas, the sea whipping at our hair and the sun shining bright as we readied ourselves for Patrick and Danielle’s union by the sea. The ceremony on Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was the perfect location for the adventurous couple to say their I-do’s. It was a pristine day with a location that could only be described as sheer paradise. They couple had made it their goal to have the wedding be romantic, memorable, and most important of all – laid back. They wanted all those in attendance to not only feel relaxed but invested in the ceremony. They didn’t want a crowd, they wanted wanted to share the moment with those closest to them.
With an intimate gathering of guests and whales playing just off the shore, the barefooted bride and groom joined hand-in-hand underneath a tent adorned in Grape Purple and Lime Green colors that are symbolic to their relationship (and signature colors for their dirt bikes). The purple and green hues showed up wonderfully on the final stills, so vibrant and lively and eye-catching, the colors standing out like a trademark unique to this special couple. Just as the sun began to descend behind the ocean, the couple was pronounced man and wife, and the passionate kiss they shared against the setting sun left all of us in attendance with full hearts and big smiles.
I am so thrilled that Danielle and Patrick invited me to capture their special day, I sincerely adore this couple and the love that they share for one another is so apparent in these images. I had the best week in Mexico with these love birds, an abundance of love, and not a single dull moment.
