I was lucky to spend a Colorado winter in New Zealand for their summer. Of all my time exploring, I fell in love with the west coast. But, of course, I love sunsets, so that is probably why! Whenever I get the chance to visit the beach, I jump at the chance. I spent some time in Piha, a rugged little beach town west of Auckland. From excellent surf and a rugged coastline, it was perfect for Rosalie and Myles’s sunset engagement session in Piha, New Zealand. Surprisingly the same place Myles proposed just one week before!
I scouted a few places for their engagement session and fell in love with Piha. A seaside village west of Auckland known for its black sand, surfing, and rugged scenery. I didn’t realize just one week before our session, Myles proposed to Rosalie in Piha, on top of Lion Rock. The island/rock in their engagement pictures. It was serendipitous. Once in a while, you meet a couple you just click with. That’s how it was meeting Rosalie and Myles. We were blessed with the most fantastic light on the day of the session. They were so easy to photograph, and I didn’t want the sun to set. When the sun went down over the horizon, we took pictures with Myles’s vintage car, an epic way to end a rad session.
Of all the time I was visiting New Zealand, I had the opportunity to work with several couples. Myles and Rosalie were two of the coolest people I have had the pleasure of photographing. Myles and Rosalie’s sunset engagement session in Piha, New Zealand, is one I will never forget!
