Letty and Gerard’s romantic engagement getaway in Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend was a dream come true.
I met them in Page, a small town in northern Arizona. Nestled on the shores of Lake Powell, it is known for two iconic destinations; Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. The perfect location for their engagement getaway. The first stop on our adventure was Antelope Canyon. An incredible sandstone slot canyon formed due to erosion from flash floods. We winded through the canyon, watching the light bounce off the rock walls as the hot desert sun pierced through the cracks above. Despite the desert heat, the slot canyons stay cooler due to the lack of sun. Afterward, we visited another slot canyon where we had the entire area to ourselves.
After exploring the slot canyons, we drove to Horseshoe Bend for sunset. I am always blown away by the size of the canyon! Peering down at the Colorado River makes you feel so small. After wandering the canyon’s rim for sunset, we hiked back up the trail. The perfect end to their romantic engagement getaway in Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.
Even though Horseshoe Bend is popular, you can always get incredible pictures! Another great option is visiting at sunrise as there are fewer people. However, keep in mind that you are facing west so the lighting will be different. Note: Unfortunately, Antelope Canyon no longer allows photo sessions. However, it is still a fantastic experience and you can capture the beauty with your personal camera/phone. Additionally, there are other slot canyons in the area you can explore for a photo session!
