Michelle and Alex planned a spring elopement that turned into an adventurous winter elopement in Breckenridge! I’ve been lucky to visit Breckenridge a handful of times over the year. Still, nothing was like Michelle and Alex’s winter wonderland elopement.Β
An unexpected snowstorm created a fresh blanket of snow on the morning of their elopement. I met Michelle and Alex atΒ Keystone Resort, where we packed up the SUV and made our way to Blue Lakes Trail. The trails were snow-packed as we made our way to the lake. Note: The road definitely requires 4wd in the winter! We reached the parking area, and we were the only people around. A benefit of eloping in the winter is fewer crowds!Β
Michelle and Alex embraced the cold and trekked out into the snow for some epic couples portraits. Of course, nothing was going to stop them from having the best day ever! I have never seen Blue Lakes look so magical with the fresh snow on the frozen lake. Afterward, they were married at 11,345 ft, surrounded by snowflakes and smiles, with Alex’s children and grandchildren in attendance. A winter wonderland moment from a storybook. After the ceremony, the bigs took a shot of whiskey to warm up from the snow. Then, the sky opened up for the rest of our pictures, and we drove back down the mountain.Β
Sometimes the unexpected turns out better than the original plans, and Michelle and Alex’s adventurous winter elopement in Breckenridge is the perfect example!
