Ryan reached out about photographing their sunrise proposal at Devils Bridge in Sedona. I was stoked to help plan an epic adventure! Since Maria and Ryan are both in the Army, we planned an epic day before they left for work. Ryan wanted to propose somewhere epic and wild. So he chose Sedona, a unique little desert town known for its red rock buttes and incredible hiking.
I met Maria and Ryan at dawn to begin our trek to Devils Bridge. There is a large parking area for Devils Bridge, however, you can drive right to the trailhead with a high-clearance vehicle. This makes the hike 2 miles roundtrip instead of 4.6 miles from the parking area. Devils Bridge is one of the most popular hikes in Sedona. Even at sunrise, you should expect a crowd! However, it is the best time to visit with much fewer people in the morning.
It is serene watching the sun light up the desert valley. Like other hikes in Sedona, there can be a line to get the iconic shot, but it is worth the wait! Ryan and Maria walked out onto the bridge for what Maria thought was just for a few couples’ photos. Then Ryan got down on one knee and proposed to Maria. Cheers from fellow hikers echoed in the canyon. Of course, Maria said yes! After that, we spent the rest of the morning exploring for their impromptu engagement session.
I love helping my couples plan a day that captures their love and reflects who they are as a couple. Their sunrise proposal at Devils Bridge in Sedona was the perfect day of love and adventure.
