Ryan reached out to have their sunrise proposal at Devils Bridge in Sedona captured, and I was beyond excited to help. Since Maria and Ryan are both in the Army, we planned a morning full of adventure and magic before their day began. Ryan wanted the proposal to feel wild, heartfelt, and unforgettable. He chose Sedona, a desert jewel of red rock buttes, sweeping canyons, and endless trails.
I met Maria and Ryan at dawn to start our trek to Devils Bridge. (There is a large parking area, but high-clearance vehicles can drive closer to the trailhead. This shortens the hike from 4.6 miles to just 2 miles round-trip.) Devils Bridge is one of the most popular hikes in Sedona, so even at sunrise, expect some other hikers. Early morning, however, offers far fewer people and a serene desert atmosphere.
Watching the sun illuminate the valley is magical. The red rocks glow gold and the shadows stretch across the canyon floor. Like many Sedona hikes, there can be a line for the iconic shot on the bridge, but the wait is worth it. Ryan and Maria walked onto the bridge for what Maria thought were a few simple couple photos. Then Ryan dropped to one knee and proposed. Cheers echoed through the canyon from fellow hikers nearby. Maria said yes, and the joy on their faces was contagious.
Afterward, we spent the morning exploring the area for an impromptu engagement session. Helping couples plan a day that reflects their personalities is one of my favorite parts of my job. Maria and Ryan’s sunrise proposal at Devils Bridge in Sedona combined love, adventure, and unforgettable scenery, creating memories they will cherish forever.
